I have to thank patient Nancy Haynes for turning us on to St. Elizabeth’s soup kitchen, a hands-on ministry which serves about 100 lunches daily. A small group of volunteers assembles sandwiches and cheerfully serves a group of mostly homeless yet appreciative men. There is a small closet where donated clothing is also kept when one of the men has a request for coats, shoes or blankets. One of the most commonly requested items is for socks. Our office is hosting a Sock Drop for anyone wishing to donate a pair of new or gently used mens socks. Our goal is to give each of the 100 men a new pair of socks during our next visit which is May 12th. We will have a drop box in our lobby through May 11th at 7900 S. University Blvd., Suite 210 or call our office at 720-489-7333 with any questions. If you ever wondered what to do with a dollar that would actually make a difference in a homeless person’s life, here’s an easy way to help!
