Moms For Mouth Guards

by Sandi on April 2, 2010

I’m a fan of examiner.com as a source of information ranging from politics to health.  One examiner I really like is Brenda Buergi.  She’s a dental hygienist in the Green Bay area who writes on all kinds of dental related topics in an easy-to-read format with a non-judgmental tone.  This week she posted a great article about Moms For Mouth Guards, a nice piece promoting the importance of mouth guards for our children’s sports activities.  She’s got a humorous video about how overboard moms can go into protecting our kids for sports but often fail to take a basic precautionary measure of making sure they have a mouth guard in.

If you dig back a ways in her articles you’ll find all kinds of great mom-friendly information on topics including science experiments, product reviews and a weekly email update if you choose (I do).

Current patients know we are a sports-oriented kind of practice.  We’ll be doing a special kids mouth guard day in July.  If you aren’t already a fan of ours on Facebook, visit the home page of our site to become a fan so you see the mouth guard day information when it’s published.

For our super sports enthusiasts, we are also authorized providers of Under Armour’s exclusive performance mouthwear.  For more information about this advanced technology visit: www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/accessories/

While we’re discussing mouth guards, the American Association of Orthodontics has teamed up with Football legend Emmitt Smith with their Play It Safe campaign for sports safety.  Visit their website at: http://www.braces.org/sportsafety/. Emmmitt’s wife, Pat, promotes the Moms For Mouthguards Program at: http://www.momsformouthguards.org/.
